It’s ok to be less than perfect.

Some people set impossibly high standards then beat themselves up when they do not reach them. Or even worse, are so fearful that they cannot achieve them that they do nothing at all!

Sound or feel familiar?

Do not be hard on yourself and focus on WHAT YOU HAVE ACHIEVED as opposed to what you did not.

It’s the classic Glass Half Empty or Glass Half Full scenario. What do you see?

More often than not, it’s better TO DO, make mistakes and learn from them, than to avoid and do nothing at all. Otherwise, you can end up in a stuck state resulting in feelings and self-talk of ‘I’m Not Good Enough’, ‘I’ll Never Be Able to Achieve That’, and ‘I Can’t Do This’!

Be honest though, and acknowledge and own your limitations. Being human means being less than perfect! We are all in the same boat. It’s how we deal with our limitations and our mindset around them that matters most.

Finally, keep your sense of humour and laugh at yourself when possible. It’s true when they say that ‘Laughter is the best medicine’. Think of the last time you had a good laugh and how that made you feel. It can help to clear your mind and also have a positive effect on those around you.
